Al-Husseini: Accusing UAE was for causing sedition and external engagements
Beirut:The Secretary-General of the Arab Islamic Council, Mr. Mohammad Ali Hosseini, held a series of meetings with UAE officials to clarify the truth of information, regarding the deportation of a number of Lebanese Shiites from the United Arab Emirates.
A statement issued by the Information Office of the Islamic Arab Council said,” Emirates officials confirmed to Husseini that everything that was said on this subject were lies and pure fabrication on the UAE, its leadership and its people, especially the claim that deportation involved citizens who favored Hezbollah and Amal movement, a hint of sectarian identity malignant to them. Or claim that they were asked to do certain security work against certain Lebanese parties”.
The statement continued that,” the UAE officials said their country has always had the best relations with Lebanon and its people as one and indivisible nation, and the UAE had humanitarian and charity roles to build and support Lebanon in whatever it needed, it is without considering any internal considerations of the Lebanese sectarian political or otherwise. As Emirates also received the Lebanese people on its soil for work and residence, without any discrimination”.
“The UAE has no interest in any of the allegations raised, and if some Lebanese left the state in recent times, they did so because of losing their jobs as a result of the economic crisis that affected most of the countries of the world. And thus have no political aims of this subject”.
A statement by the Arab Islamic Council said that Mr. al-Husseini noted the relationship between the two countries, describing the UAE as sincere and honest. He denounced the false accusations as a cheap act aimed at destabilizing the State of the Emirates in the Lebanese domestic politics. He confirmed that the rumors of security reasons being behind the departure of some of the Lebanese from Arab Emirates had nothing to do with reality.
Husseini condemned the sectarian accusations in the United Arab Emirates, warning that this will lead to the creation of sedition between the sons of one religion and one nation. Just like what the enemies of this (Arab) nation did to stir up trouble in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. This is what we categorically reject in the Arab Islamic Council which constitutes common political and religious reference for the Shia Arabs.
He concluded: We are used to the white hands of the UAE, and, unfortunately, there are those who want to tarnish this image by creating false accusations, to express suspicious foreign engagements
